Chief metallurgist - Fort-Dauphin, Madagascar


Technology Director
The operation consists of dredge mining and a series of wet and dry circuits to separate mineral sands to final ilmenite and zircon products. The principal mineral separation equipment includes spirals & density separators within the wet circuits and electrostatic & magnetic separators within the dry circuits. Drying of material between circuits is accomplished by drainage bays and fluid bed dryers.

- Direct a team of 74, covering the metallurgy, laboratory, quality assurance & exploration geology services to the operations
- Provide technical support to the various operational sectors of the mining complex
- Perform R & D, cost reduction and product quality improvement projects
- Schedule projects and perform financial & process impact evaluations
- Assure conformity with regards to established standards
- Participate in plant start-up, commissioning & troubleshooting along with training of the operations crew.

We are looking for candidates for whom health and safety at work along with environmental concern are part of their values. A solid experience acquired in similar functions is essential. The candidates must stand out in leadership, determination and organizational skills. The candidates should hold a relevant engineering, science or management degree and a minimum of ten (10) years of pertinent experience. An experience in plant start-up is desired. You show proof of initiative and creativity and have a strong sense of team work. You have the ability communicate, verbally and written, in French and English to staff of all levels.
