The mission:
Member of the Economic Development Team, the Manager - Regional Economic Development (MRED) will contribute to setting the Group’s development agenda in Guinea and will operationally manage all economic development aspects related to the Group’s activities both nationally and regionally, including the new project. This will provide a rare opportunity to influence a large-scale, high-profile project from conception through to implementation.
The MRED will be work to derive maximum value to the local economy from the industry’s supply chain by identifying opportunities for local businesses to participate in the supply for goods and services. He/she will also actively contribute to the establishment of training centers and also liaise with internal departments to ensure maximum benefit from direct and indirect employment opportunities.
In addition the job holder will contribute to small and medium enterprise development, community infrastructure and related initiatives. This will also necessitate establishing close relations with specialist external organizations in order to create the necessary partnerships and networks.
Another key component of the role will be to implement a sound communication strategy to multiple stakeholders at all levels.
The profile:
• A degree in Development Economics or in a related field at post-graduate level and the proven ability to develop supply chains, small & medium enterprises, community initiatives and local economies.
• In addition, a sound knowledge of infrastructure development, micro-finance, training and education and the management of multi-stakeholders are required. This includes liaison with government, NGOs and donor country offices as well as specialist organizations working in this field.
• Innovative approaches to business creation, strong negotiation skills at a senior level and sound management skills are sought as well as effective co-ordination skills.
• Experience working in developing economies, preferably including Africa, and the ability to relate effectively to people in complex cultural environments.
• Fluency in French as the official language of Guinea and English as the working language of the Group.
