The client is a major international Shipping & Logistics organisation with a strong global presence. They are seeking an experienced General Manager to establish and manage their new operation in Nigeria. The business includes port agency, offshore support, marine logistics and the provision of other maritime related services.
The position will suit someone with strong ship agency experience who is commercially astute and able to lead from the front in developing the business and building the bottom line.
Responsibilities:
Project-manage the start-up phase to include establishing the team, ensuring regulatory issues are addressed and migrating captive business to the new entity.
Recruit, train and develop a Management Team capable of effectively delivering the aspirations of the Group in Nigeria.
Establish, monitor and maintain service delivery in line with Group standards.
Responsible for the Budget process, Business Plan and management reporting, with full responsibility for financial performance and control.
Responsible for the effective implementation of software applications.
Maximise revenues through effective Sales & Marketing program with local customers and in conjunction with corporate functions.
Actively manage the operating budget and business plan and proactively engage with regional and corporate teams on delivery.
Ensure the business is fully aligned with Group strategy
Niveau de poste minimum : Manager (Manager/Supervisor of Staff)
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years relevant senior port agency management experience, preferably in West Africa or a similar working environment.
Highly developed general management and leadership skills and a strong understanding of financial & legal functions
Excellent communicator and negotiator with an aggressive approach to achieving objectives.
Commercial flair and ability to develop new business.
Demonstrable experience in managing and motivating staff, preferably in a business start-up environment.
Able to effectively manage a diverse and multicultural team
Excellent command of written & spoken English
