International Group, development project in Guinea

A mega project which is planned to become a significant supplier to world markets is underway in Guinea. It will involve implementing a major mine, railway and a deep water port.
The mission:
The (M/F) Area Project Manager – Infrastructure will provide leadership and expertise in all aspects within the Infrastructure domain and be a key contributor to the success of a large scale project within a global group.
The mission is to ensure the design, co-ordination and delivery of infrastructure systems, assets and processes to support the mine, rail and port. This includes project managing all associated engineering, procurement and construction activities. The position is responsible for the completion of the work in accordance with design, safety and environmental requirements as well as time and cost objectives.
The role will initially be situated at my client’s London head office for around a year during the pre-feasibility phase and thereafter will be based in Conakry, Guinea.
The profile:
• A qualified Engineer with highly developed skills and significant experience in infrastructure or utilities management and development, including a thorough knowledge and working understanding of water, electrical and infrastructure design as well as experience in managing development, expansion and improvements projects in infrastructure and utilities. Experience in the mining sector is highly desirable.
• Proven experience successfully managing major studies and strong project management skills.
• Both team leadership and effective team player abilities combined with high level analytical and complex problem solving skills are key success factors as are the drive and enthusiasm necessary to ensure project delivery.
• Significant experience working in a developing economy, preferably including Africa, the willingness to develop a deep understanding and value of local culture as well as ease in working in multicultural environments.
• Fluency in French as the official language of Guinea and English as the working language of the Group.

A highly attractive management remuneration package will be offered. Where applicable, an expatriate package will be provided during the period in London. When located to Conakry, a tax-free assignment allowance will be offered as well as housing and car.
