Senior Training Officer - Mali

JOB DESCRIPTION

PURPOSE: To provide support to line management in both the development and execution of operator and engineering apprentice and maintainance training in accordance with established company standards to ensure the availability of a competent and timely workforce at optimum costs.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: LINE: Engineering Manager, FUNCTIONAL: MANAGER HUMAN
RESOURCES R.R.L.

Customers - Line management, Engineering, Processing and General management, Trainees;

Outsource Vendors / Liaisons: Universities, Technical Colleges, Technical Schools (Pere Michelle), Training and Development Consultants.

SCOPE:

In charge of Skills training and administration facilitation of Supervisory and management training and development interventions.

BUSINESS SCENARIO:

KEY RESULT AREAS:

 Contribute to the development and implementation of training strategies, budgets and plans that are in accordance with Randgold Resources and Somilo’s plans and optimize the returns on annual training expenditure.
 Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of Operator and Maintainance on-the- job action training programmemes in accordance with Randgold Resources and Somilo Standards for Training, which must address and satisfy the needs of the organisation.
 Closely monitor the progress of training participants to ensure satisfactory performance results and take timely and appropriate action as required to ensure the delivery of competent employees at the conclusion of the training programme, as per line management’s manpower requirements.
 Participate in the selection of new employees who will, in the first instance, undertake Operator or Maintainance training to ensure the most capable applicants are appointed.
 Maintain an effective and robust system for training records to ensure this information is available in a timely and effective manner.
 Adopt Training’s cost control systems to collect all training costs to ensure early detection of unfavorable variances.
 Coordinate the placement and learning plans for Vacational and other Students from Malian learning institutions, undertaking work experience at Somilo operations..
 Provide leadership, training and support to ensure that employees and contractors comply with safety and environmental standards that exceed industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
 Ensure that employees under your control gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programmes.
 Continually review every aspect of skills training activities to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified and implemented.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: A Trade Certificate
Experience: Five to ten years industry experience in the mining sector with at least three years in a training/development or a leadership/supervisory role.
Previous experience in the successful development and implementation of operator/Maintainance training programmes is essential.
Previous experience working in a remote location is essential with African experience being highly desirable.
